Can't wait for the warmer weather! Memphis wants to go for a swim!

I was able to meet both owner/operators and go on an extensive tour of the grounds. I was impressed with the breadth of the site. The trails seem sheltered and well maintained and the pond is an added luxury that is very attractive. The barn seems to be extremely well kept and the arenas were in great shape. I had a good look at the front two paddacks and they seem as advertised. The horses I saw looked very well groomed. I was actually able to witness a few different riders/handlers using the facility or picking up/dropping off their horses and I was impressed with how well managed the place can be with just two owner/operators. Finally I was impressed by their polite questions and instructions as per Covid-19 in relation to parking and timing my visit. I'll leave the business end of the discussion out of this but I will say that I will be back, and probably not alone!

Superior doesn't begin to describe this facility. The animals are exceedingly happy, well fed, and docile. I have no doubt that I will be returning here again and again. The owners are exceptional people and their personalities touch every aspect of this place!

About us

Superior Equestrian Center (SEC) is a private, indoor horse boarding stable, located in the heart of Manitoba's equestrian community.  Birds Hill Park (East Gate) is only 1/2 mile north of SEC property on highway 206.  Stable keepers live in a house, on-site, where the main paddocks and barn can been easily seen.

Upcoming changes:  As of August 1, 2019, owners are taking over the business in it's entirety.  Stable keepers will no longer be living in the house and Trish will be taking care of business full time from August forward.

Parking
Parking is available behind picnic/fire pit area, on north side of the driveway.

The Barn
The barn has 14 indoor stalls (matted) - bedded with spruce shavings for absorption and extra comfort, an indoor bathroom with compost toilet, access to hot and cold water, tack room with large lockers (1 per horse per indoor board contract).

The Arenas
The indoor arena has lots of natural light, premium footing with ReitenRight additive and is attached to the barn (heated in winter).  There is also a large outdoor arena and 60 foot round pen for horse training needs and boarder's enjoyment.

The Paddocks
There are five (5) paddocks on-site.
The two (2) front paddocks have mature trees, grassy with three (3) strand, high quality, electrical fencing around the perimeter and automatic waterers.  There are three (3) separate paddocks for segregation and illness requirements and/or horse rotation, when necessary.

The Trails
There are trails on-site with one trail heading off the property towards Birds Hill Park (Vernon Road access).  The soil is sandy which allows for quick drying and drainage when it rains.

The Pond
The pond is available for boarders and their horse's use only.  Boarders can invite friends and their horses if permission is granted by SEC owners.  See section on Visitors

What is Included (indoor board contract only)?
Included in the monthly board fee, we provide daily turn in/out, matted stall (10X10), hay, beet pulp with no molasses (if required), blanketing, fly masks and boots and a large tack locker to hold all your equestrian equipment.  Supplements (provided by boarders) are included if given during morning and evening grain feedings.  Hay is fed 3 - 4 times daily depending on season and growth of grass in paddocks.  The use of 2 large arenas (1 - indoor and 1 - outdoor), 60 foot round pen, access to on-site trails and pond for swimming (human and horses).  Boarders have use of an outdoor wash rack to hose and bathe their horses (warm water available).

Visitors
Visitors are always welcome at SEC.  Since SEC is a private facility, please let SEC owners and/or barn staff know when you are bringing company to enjoy the property.  If visitors are bringing their own horse(s), a trailer-in fee must be paid, owner must provide proof of current vaccination, proof of current negative coggins result and a liability waiver form must be co
signed prior to handling SEC horses and/or riding on SEC property.  Helmets must be worn while riding on SEC property.  We encourage all juniors (16 years and under) to wear a helmet at all times while in paddocks, arena and/or handling horses.  Due to the possibility that a horse may have an allergy, visitors are only allowed to feed treats to horses with owner's direct supervision.
